Mark Hurlstone

Mark Hurlstone is a Lecturer in Psychology at Lancaster University, a position held since 2020, and was previously an Assistant Professor in the School of Psychological Science at the University of Western Australia. Hurlstone works across cognitive psychology and applied social psychology, with research spanning human memory, serial order recall, auditory distraction, and computational modelling of working memory, as well as behavioural and environmental economics, climate change communication, and the psychology of misinformation. Recent work includes studies on prebunking and debunking interventions, causal inference in conspiracy research, and strategies for reducing demand for ineffective health remedies and overexploited wildlife products.
