Special Issue Policy

Editorial Oversight and Responsibility

The Editor-in-Chief maintains ultimate responsibility for all content published in the journal, including special issues. Special issue proposals must demonstrate clear alignment with the journal’s scope and aims. All articles submitted to a special issue will undergo the same rigorous external peer review and editorial oversight as regular journal submissions. The Editor-in-Chief, supported by relevant editorial board members, will oversee guest editors throughout the special issue development process. All articles accepted as part of a special issue will be clearly identified and labelled as such upon publication.

Guest Editor Selection and Management

Guest editors must demonstrate relevant expertise and standing in their field. The journal will verify academic credentials, publication history, and institutional affiliations before approving guest editor appointments. Guest editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

The Editor-in-Chief or designated editorial board members will provide oversight and guidance to guest editors throughout the special issue process. This includes:

  • Support for handling challenging editorial situations
  • Review and approval of the special issue proposal and scope
  • Guidance on journal policies and procedures
  • Regular progress updates and quality checks

Managing Conflicts of Interest

To maintain editorial integrity:

All conflicts of interest must be declared and managed according to journal policy

Guest editors must recuse themselves from decisions involving close collaborators or other relationships that could compromise objectivity

Papers authored by guest editors must be handled through an independent review process overseen by the Editor-in-Chief or designated editorial board member

Guest editor-authored papers may constitute no more than 25% of the total papers in the special issue
