Eirini Flouri is a developmental psychologist at the Department of Psychology and Human Development at University College London whose research examines the environmental, familial, and biological factors shaping child and adolescent mental health, social development, and cognitive functioning across the lifespan. Flouri's work integrates longitudinal cohort studies with mechanistic investigations of how early-life experiences—including family relationships, neighborhood characteristics, socioeconomic position, and exposure to stressors—influence trajectories of psychological wellbeing, risk-taking behavior, and social competence. Flouri has particular expertise in neurodevelopmental conditions including autism, examining how autistic young people navigate peer relationships, emotion regulation, and mental health across developmental stages. Through this body of research, Flouri contributes to understanding how macro, meso, and micro-level social contexts shape developmental outcomes and inform prevention and intervention approaches in child and adolescent mental health.
