Cornelia Betsch is Director of the Institute for Planetary Health Behaviour at the University of Erfurt and Working Group Leader for Implementation Science at the Bernhard-Nocht-Institute for Tropical Medicine in Germany. Betsch's research focuses on individual and social health decision-making, particularly vaccination behavior, risk perception, and climate action readiness, with extensive work examining the psychological foundations of public health behavior and the role of communication in shaping health outcomes. Betsch has conducted substantial research on vaccine hesitancy, conspiracy beliefs, antibiotic stewardship, climate anxiety, and trust in health communicators, publishing findings on evidence-based intervention design and the behavioral and cultural insights approach to public health. Betsch's work also addresses misinformation and disinformation in health contexts, exploring how conspiracy narratives influence physician behavior and public vaccination decisions across multiple countries.
