Philipp Schmid is an Assistant Professor of Health Communication at the Centre for Language Studies at Radboud University Nijmegen and a Research Fellow in Media and Communication Science at the University of Erfurt. Schmid received a PhD in Psychology from the University of Erfurt in 2020, following a Master of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the same institution. Schmid's research focuses on psychology and health decision-making, science denialism, and persuasion psychology, with a particular emphasis on vaccination behavior, health misinformation, and evidence-based communication strategies to counter vaccine hesitancy and inoculate against misinformation. Schmid's work spans experimental and survey-based research across multiple European countries and addresses both the public and healthcare professional populations, including studies on debunking interventions, prebunking strategies, and the psychological determinants of vaccination confidence.
