Philipp Schmid is an Assistant Professor of Health Communication at the Centre for Language Studies, Radboud University Nijmegen, a position held since 2023. Schmid completed all three degrees at the University of Erfurt, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy in 2013, a Master of Science in Psychology in 2015, and a doctorate in Psychology in 2020. Before moving to Nijmegen, Schmid worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Media and Communication Science at the University of Erfurt and held a research fellowship at Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf. Research interests center on persuasion psychology, science denialism, and health decision making, with much of the published work addressing vaccine hesitancy, the correction of health misinformation, and psychological inoculation as a strategy for countering disinformation.
