Philipp Schmid is an Assistant Professor of Health Communication at the Centre for Language Studies, Radboud University Nijmegen, a position held since 2023. Schmid completed all graduate and postgraduate training at the University of Erfurt, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy in 2013, a Master of Science in Psychology in 2015, and a doctorate in Psychology in 2020. Prior to the appointment at Radboud, Schmid held a postdoctoral research position in Media and Communication Science at the University of Erfurt and a research fellowship at Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf. Schmid's research addresses health decision making, persuasion psychology, and science denialism, with particular attention to vaccination misinformation, inoculation strategies, and the psychological mechanisms that sustain false beliefs and resist correction.
