Adam J. Beam is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology at Wesleyan University. Beam's research addresses social identity, intergroup relations, and the psychological dimensions of racism, including colorblindness, authoritarianism, and the role of critical history in understanding United States democracy. Additional work examines gender and sexual identity, masculinity threat, bias toward gay men, and the social consequences of romantic and platonic rejection. Beam has also investigated how COVID-19 affected Asian Americans' sense of identity and well-being.
