Vladimir Ponizovskiy is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Durham University, a position held since 2023, and is also affiliated with the Faculty of Psychology at Ruhr University Bochum. Ponizovskiy's research addresses human values, political attitudes, and collective action, with particular attention to how propaganda and value-instantiating beliefs shape public behavior in authoritarian contexts, including war support and resistance in Russia. Other work has examined right-wing media consumption and COVID-19 compliance, the relationship between values and attitudes toward immigrants across cultures, and the role of cultural identity in the well-being of Indigenous youth in Canada. Ponizovskiy has also contributed methodological tools to the field, including the development and validation of the Personal Values Dictionary for analyzing references to basic human values in text.
