Marie Isabelle Weißflog is a researcher at the Department of Psychology at the University of York and the Faculty of Psychology at Ruhr University Bochum whose work examines social judgment, authoritarianism, collective action, and propaganda across cultural contexts. Weißflog's research has investigated how gender and class intersect in shaping social judgments across cultures with varying levels of gender inequality, the role of value-instantiating beliefs in supporting or resisting war, and the emotional mechanisms including guilt and shame that motivate antiwar action in authoritarian settings. Much of Weißflog's recent work has focused on understanding propaganda and value systems in Russia and Ukraine, contributing to broader inquiries into how cultural contexts shape psychological processes related to intergroup attitudes and political behavior.
