Tomasz Besta is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Psychology, University of Gdansk, where he has worked since 2010, first as an Assistant Professor and then, following his habilitation at the same institution in 2018, in his current role. Besta received a PhD in psychology from the Polish Academy of Sciences in 2010. Research interests span collective action, intergroup violence, radicalization, and political trust, with additional work on gender beliefs, masculinity norms, and sexism examined through large cross-national datasets. Much of this research addresses how individual differences, group norms, and cultural context shape willingness to engage in normative and non-normative political behavior, including radical action.
