Tomasz Besta is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Psychology, University of Gdansk, where Besta has held positions since 2010, initially as Assistant Professor before receiving habilitation in 2018. Besta completed a PhD in psychology at the Polish Academy of Sciences in 2010. Besta's research addresses collective action, intergroup violence, and political radicalization, including work on adolescent political alienation, the psychological underpinnings of radical behavior, and gender beliefs across cultures. Much of this work draws on large cross-national datasets and examines how individual differences, group norms, and social context shape willingness to engage in normative and non-normative collective action.
