Clara Pretus is a researcher in the Department of Psychobiology and Methodology of Health Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where she is also affiliated with the Hospital del Mar Research Institute in Barcelona. Pretus works on the social and neural mechanisms underlying belief formation, misinformation, political polarization, and intergroup conflict, with additional work on moral cognition and its applications to artificial agents. Much of this research draws on neuroimaging, behavioral experiments, and large-scale interventions, including crowdsourcing and fact-checking approaches to counter partisan misinformation. Earlier work in the lab examined attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, and reward processing, reflecting a background that spans clinical and social neuroscience.
