Aleksandar Tomašević

Aleksandar Tomašević is a research associate at the Scientific Computing Laboratory, Institute of Physics Belgrade, and previously served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Novi Sad from 2020 to 2025. Tomašević works across computational social science, network analysis, and affective dynamics, with published work on topics ranging from adolescent identity and well-being across cultures to the emotional dynamics of political leaders and online communities. Much of this research applies machine learning and graph-based methods, including exploratory graph analysis, to questions in personality psychology, mental health, and the sustainability of knowledge-sharing platforms. Tomašević has also contributed open-source tools for text and emotion analysis in R, notably the transforEmotion package.
