Aleksandar Tomašević is a research associate at the Scientific Computing Laboratory, Institute of Physics Belgrade, and an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Novi Sad. Tomašević's research integrates computational social science methods with psychological and sociological inquiry, with particular expertise in affective dynamics, network analysis, and emotion detection using machine learning and transformer-based models. Tomašević has developed open-source tools for emotion analysis and has published extensively on identity orientations and adolescent well-being, online community dynamics, populism, and the application of exploratory graph analysis to emotional and political phenomena. Tomašević's work bridges psychology, sociology, and computational methods to examine emotional dynamics, social cohesion, and democratic participation across individual, community, and political contexts.
