Zea Szebeni is a researcher in the Department of Psychology at the University of Helsinki, where Szebeni completed both undergraduate and graduate training. Szebeni's work centers on collective psychological ownership, intergroup relations, and immigration attitudes, with particular attention to how majority and minority groups contest territorial and epistemic claims over national identity. Much of Szebeni's published research examines populist visual communication, welfare chauvinism, and the social psychological factors underlying belief in disinformation, drawing on case studies from Hungary, Finland, and Slovakia. Szebeni has also contributed to large-scale cross-national research on stress and behavioral responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
