Sylvia P. Perry is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Northwestern University's Department of Psychology and Institute for Policy Research. Perry received a PhD in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2010 and has conducted extensive research on racial socialization, social cognition, implicit bias, and the psychology of difficult conversations. Perry's work spans multiple domains including the impact of racial socialization on children's biases, bias reduction interventions in medical education, intergroup dynamics, and the relationship between political polarization and subjective well-being during democratic backsliding. Perry has contributed to both theoretical understanding and practical applications of social psychological phenomena, with particular emphasis on institutional contexts such as medical schools and family settings.
