Stephane Baele

Stephane Baele is a researcher at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), where work focuses on extremism, political violence, and terrorism, with particular attention to online ecosystems and the language of violent actors. Baele has also held a position at the University of Exeter. Much of the published research examines how extremist communities form and communicate online, including studies of incel networks, far-right forums, and the construction of violent worldviews in terrorist propaganda. Additional work engages with securitization theory, the experimental study of security communication, and the application of computational and corpus-based methods to questions in international relations and security studies.
