Shauna M. Bowes is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, beginning in 2025. Bowes recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Psychology and Human Development at Vanderbilt University from 2023 to 2025 and earned a PhD in Psychology from Emory University in 2023, along with a B.S. from Emory University in 2017. Bowes' research focuses on intellectual humility, misinformation receptivity, conspiracy beliefs, and political polarization, with particular emphasis on meta-analytic approaches to understanding how epistemic and personality factors relate to belief formation and ideological extremism. Notable recent publications include work on the relationship between intellectual humility and accuracy, the conspiratorial mind, rigidity of ideological thinking, and the effects of intellectual humility on trust in scientists and susceptibility to misinformation.
