Chiu Yu-Chin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University, a position held since 2018. Chiu completed a PhD in Psychological and Brain Sciences at Johns Hopkins University in 2010 and subsequently held a postdoctoral position at the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University from 2013 to 2018. Research in the Chiu lab centers on cognitive control and task switching, including the flexibility-stability tradeoff, metacontrol, and congruency effects, drawing on behavioral methods alongside EEG and fMRI techniques to examine the neural mechanisms underlying these processes. Recent work has also extended into applied domains, including attention in roadway construction signage and cognitive functioning among nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
