Chiu Yu-Chin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University, a position held since 2018. Chiu completed a PhD in Psychological and Brain Sciences at Johns Hopkins University in 2010 and subsequently held a postdoctoral position at the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University from 2013 to 2018. Chiu's research addresses cognitive control, task switching, and the flexibility-stability tradeoff in task-set level cognition, drawing on behavioral methods, EEG, and fMRI to examine how the brain regulates proactive and reactive metacontrol. Additional work has extended these questions to applied contexts, including driver attention during automated driving and cognitive functioning among nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
