Our Mission
Advances.in LTD is an independent academic publisher dedicated to accelerating scientific discovery and increasing the accessibility of knowledge. We believe in removing barriers to research and ensuring that high-quality, peer-reviewed findings are available to a global audience. Our mission is to support the scholarly community by providing a modern, efficient, equitable, and transparent publishing platform.
Our Publishing Model & Ownership
We are a Gold Open Access publisher. This means that all articles published in our journals, including advances.in/psychology, are made permanently and freely available online immediately upon publication.
To fund this model and cover the costs of publication—which include rigorous peer review management, copyediting, typesetting, long-term archiving, and web hosting—we charge an Article Processing Charge (APC). This charge is payable by the authors, their institution, or their funding body only after an article has been editorially accepted.
We are committed to ethical publishing and adhere to the principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Advances.in LTD is a private company registered in England and Wales, owned by its founder, Karolina S. Sowa.
Publisher Leadership
Karolina S. Sowa, Founder & Director As the founder and owner of Advances.in, Karolina is responsible for all non-editorial operations, including platform management, production, business strategy, and financial oversight. Her mission is to apply her experience in business administration and operations (from roles at Google and Air Liquide) to create a streamlined and ethical publishing house for the 21st century.
Our Commitment to Editorial Independence
To ensure the scientific integrity of our journals, we maintain a strict separation between our business operations (the Publisher) and our academic editorial decisions (the Journal).
The Journal’s Editorial Board, led by the Editor-in-Chief, is comprised of independent academic experts. This Board has full and complete authority over all editorial content, including all peer review and final decisions on acceptance or rejection.
The Publisher (Karolina S. Sowa) is responsible for the company, its technology, and its finances. The Publisher has no role in specific decisions on any manuscript.
